The jam headed into PITB had me thinking of Here Comes ☀️ They seem somewhat sluggish at certain points. (Half Step) Perhaps the heat because DC could

get real toasty. Especially since they were the opener. Mixing the Garcia/ Weir rotation pays off from GREATEST Story to PITB Overall a good show with nice sound. That they played 14 songs in the First Set On a scorching day at RFK Is a testimony to the bands grit.

one of my memories of this show was being 50 feet from the stage and the HEAT. There was a girl in front of us who weighed in at about 80 pounds drinking

a bottle of SoCo. She was out of it, and after every Dead song would stand up and holler for " Whipping Post" . She passed out before the Allmans hit the stage and slept through their entire show.

part of the set, recovering in time to stagger back out for "Box of Rain." Spent the rest of the day back under the overhang. Allmans were fantastic. Two years later, I briefly met Garcia at a club in Fairfax, Calif., and mentioned this show. He immediately apologized for what he called a "horrible" performance, and expressed genuine regret that I hadn't been there the following night.

Why did Phil always sing at RFK? Box of Rain in the good old days; Tom Thumb Blues in the 80s/90s.
